Caldero Fest | Áurea Inmobiliaria – Real Estate Agency in Los Alcázares
Next Sunday, the 7th of October Fiestas del Caldero (Caldero Fest) 2018 will begin in Los Alcázares. Have you ever wondered why Los Alcázares celebrates this fest?
The Caldero Fest celebrates the Independence of Los Alcázares
The first time ever that Los Alcázares had a local governement and, consequently, town independence was during the Spanish Civil War because the military authority wanted. The first mayor was Antonio Menárguez Costa, who nowadays gives his name to a high school. The Local Government had to give accommodation, management and services to all the families that arrived to the Air Military Base of Los Alcázares.
In 1937, it was tried to give to Los Alcázares some municipality land, but for this it was necessary that the other two towns gave some part of land. The Local Government of Torre Pacheco agreed. However, the Local Government of San Javier did not agree because the Local Government of Los Alcázares was not legally made. For that reason, once that the Spanish Civil War ended, the Local Government was dissolved.
Origin of the Day of Caldero celebration
In 1972 a committee was created and this committee achieved to obtain the Independence through the Council of State. The president of the Autonomous Community signed the Decree of the creation of the Local Government (Spanish Decree 77/1983).
In order to celebrate it, children made different acts at school and in Paseo de la Feria a party was organized and everyone attended.
These celebrations implemented the Fiestas de Octubre (October Fests) that are also called Independence Fest.
Nowadays, a lot of people come to enjoy this fest. The Día del Caldero (Caldero Day), the 12th of October, is the most important day of the Independence.
Since 1983 many people from Los Alcázares and visitors go to the seaside and they cook its own caldero (typical rice from this area) and they dance and sing.
In the backyard of Hotel La Encarnación, a Solemn Independence Act takes place and, remembering the 13th of October of 1983, a price called Al-Kazar is given to the person or association that has demonstrated its compromise with the city.
The salior atmosphere, the fest and the rice make that many people from the whole región come to Los Alcázares to enjoy and take part of this fest.
Áurea Inmobiliaria wishes you happy days during the fest!
